Troubleshooting Access to Cloud Storage Server ota.neat.no
When troubleshooting access to the cloud storage server, you can connect a laptop to the same subnet as the Neat device and then open a browser and type: https://ota.neat.no/stable.json. You should see a list of software package locations.
If you notice that your laptop can access https://ota.neat.no/stable.json, but Neat devices are unable to, then the two potential reasons are:
- You have a Proxy server configured on your laptop (e.g. company laptop) and are therefore able to access it. Neat device will then require the same proxy configuration to be entered under Network settings -> Proxy server.
- You have entered a Proxy server, but it is an HTTPS proxy server that alters the certificate authority for https://ota.neat.no/stable.json. If this is the case, then you won’t be able to use Neat in this setup as Neat doesn’t yet support HTTPS proxy servers as there is no mechanism to enter certificate authority’s certificates during the out-of-box setup stage.
Proxy Servers
You might have a transparent proxy. If you have a transparent proxy (meaning you don’t have to configure the proxy on the device, but there’s a proxy in the path downstream) that can also cause these types of failures, as the certificate passed back to the Neat device won’t be in our local trust store.
Repeat the step of accessing ota.neat.no and check the certificate being sent back, as you may already have the root certificate in your trust store if a transparent proxy is in use.
To do this, once at your web browser and after having browsed to https://ota.neat.no, click the lock icon and view the certificate.
