How to troubleshoot audio problems
Neat Support has curated this troubleshooting article in response to setups experiencing poor audio pickup and output with Neat devices. Before you continue with the article below we encourage Neat customers to check out our general advice on improving acoustics in our Sound Advice article.
Symptom: Background noise pickup
Neat’s Voice Isolation
With our deep noise suppression model, the microphones on Neat Bars/Bar Pros and Neat Boards will now remove most unwanted noises while preserving the clarity of voices. Enabling this feature will apply to BYOD mode also.
- To enable noise suppression, enter the “Audio & video” page in the Neat system settings of your device and enable the “Voice isolation (beta)” toggle.
Running Zoom Rooms:
For users running Zoom rooms on their devices, there are a few options to choose from at both the Zoom application level and the Neat level.
- Using noise suppression for Zoom Rooms
- A combination of Neat’s Voice Isolation and Zoom’s Noise suppression
- Our internal testing showed that the most optimised solution was one with a mixture of software audio processing from Neat and Zoom. It was found that the ideal situation was when Zoom’s Noise suppression was set to Auto and Neat’s Voice Isolation was enabled.
- Please note
Running Microsoft Teams for Android devices:
- Microsoft Audio processing feature is not available for Neat Devices.
Symptom: Echo and reverberation making it difficult for Remote participants to understand/hear
With some rooms being more acoustically challenging than others Neat has improved its audio processing modules to adapt and reduce reverberation.
- Neat’s Voice Isolation feature includes dereverberation.
- We recommend
- For larger rooms using the Neat Bar Pro, it might be worth considering using Third Party Audio over USB-C.
Running Zoom Rooms:
Zoom’s Echo cancellation feature has been disabled for Neat devices. Neat devices do all audio processing.
