Neat Share: How to Connect and Share with Ease

Last updated on February 5, 2025

What is Neat Share?

Neat Share is a feature offered by Neat that allows supported Neat devices within the same Neat Pulse room to share the content from Apps on a Neat App Hub-enabled device to a Zoom or Microsoft Teams device over the network as if it were an HDMI connection. Think of it as a virtual content input for the receiving device, functioning like an HDMI connection. This allows you to control it just like any other input, using the ‘share’ controls on the Zoom or Microsoft Teams device to decide whether to send it to the meeting. This functionality is particularly designed to make collaboration seamless in hybrid and in-person meetings–leveraging the same intuitive and user-friendly design philosophy Neat applies across its product range.

How Do I Use Neat Share?

Step 1: Check Your Setup

A. First, you’ll need to ensure that your devices are in the same space in Neat Pulse.

If you need to move a device to another room, simply select the device in the Device menu in Neat Pulse and click the ellipsis (…) in the top action bar.

Choose Move and select a space where you want to move the device. For a more detailed guide on how to add devices in Neat Pulse, see our user guide.

B. The sending device needs to be able to route to the receiving device using its private IP address.space in Neat Pulse.

C. Check device compatibility.

  • Sending device: Neat Board, Neat Board 50, Neat Board Pro, or Neat Frame.
  • Receiving device: Neat Bar, Neat Bar Pro, or another Neat Board.

Step 2: Enable Neat Share

In Neat Pulse:

  • Open the Apps menu.
  • Ensure Neat Share is enabled (ask your admin if you don’t see the option).

Note: When using Neat Share, only the video content will be shared for now. Audio is not shared. However, the receiving device will pick up the audio from its microphone.

Step 3: Log in to Your Platform

  • Zoom: Ensure the receiving device is logged in and in an active Zoom call.
  • Microsoft Teams: Ensure the receiving device is logged in. Sharing works both in and outside meetings.

Auto-sharing:
We recommend you enable “auto-sharing” for your platform to streamline your experience with Neat Share. Auto-sharing allows your Neat device to automatically display shared content from connected devices without requiring extra steps during meetings.

Here’s how to enable auto-sharing for your platform:

  • Microsoft Teams: Auto-sharing is enabled by default. To confirm, go to Teams Admin Settings > Meetings > Content sharing > Automatically share to the room display
  • Zoom: Enable auto-sharing by turning on Allow HDMI content share locally before and during meetings and disabling Start HDMI content share manually on controller. These settings are found under ZDM Admin > Room Management > Zoom Rooms > Select Zoom Room > Room Settings > Meeting.
With auto-sharing, content flows seamlessly, letting you focus on your meetings instead of configurations.

Step 4: Start Sharing

  • 1. Tap the Neat Share option on the sender.
  • 2. If there’s only one receiver in the room, sharing starts automatically.
  • 3. If there are multiple receivers: A menu will appear—select the device you want to share with (e.g., “Neat Bar Pro on Zoom” or “Neat Bar 2 on Microsoft Teams”).
  • 4. Your screen will now appear on the chosen device.
Zoom-specific note: You can start a share on Zoom when plugging in an HDMI source, but this feature can be toggled off in Zoom settings.
  • The “share content” acts like any other content input on the Zoom or Microsoft Teams device. Depending on how that device is configured, you may need to press the “share” button to see or send the content into the call.

Step 5: Stop Sharing

Tap Stop Sharing on the sending device when you’re done.

Tips for a Smooth Experience

  • Keep your devices updated: Use the latest software and ensure Neat Share is enabled.
  • Microsoft Teams flexibility: Sharing work in meetings and outside of them.
