Technical Update: Neat Pad Displaying Incorrect UI or Failing to Pair After NeatOS 25.4.2 Update for Microsoft Teams Rooms

Published: February 24, 2026
Status: Investigating — Hotfix in development
Affected devices: Neat Pad (Microsoft Teams Rooms)
Affected firmware: NeatOS 25.4.2

Summary

Following the NeatOS 25.4.2 firmware update, some Neat Pads running Microsoft Teams Rooms may experience pairing failures or display an incorrect user interface (showing the Front of Room experience instead of the expected touch console experience).

Symptoms

  • The Neat Pad fails to pair with the Neat Bar or Neat Bar Pro after updating to NeatOS 25.4.2.
  • The Neat Pad displays the Front of Room (main display) UI instead of the touch console UI, including oversized icons and incorrect layout.
  • The Microsoft Teams app on the Neat Pad behaves as if it is a main room device rather than a controller.

Cause

A timing issue during device startup can cause the Microsoft Teams application to launch before the device type has been correctly registered. When this occurs, the Teams app defaults to identifying the Neat Pad as a Front of Room device rather than a touch console, resulting in the symptoms described above.

Workaround

Rebooting the Neat Pad resolves the issue. After a reboot, the device type is correctly set before the Teams app launches, and the Pad returns to normal touch console operation.

You can reboot the room using Neat Pulse or the Microsoft Teams Admin Center. Alternatively, you can restart it manually from the Neat Pad by following these steps:

  1. Opening Settings on the Neat Pad.
  2. Navigating to SystemRestart.

If your organization has a nightly reboot policy enabled (via Neat Pulse or Microsoft Teams Admin Center), affected devices will recover automatically during the next scheduled reboot.
