Neat Open: Overview

Last updated September 30, 2026

Neat Open is a platform for Neat devices that turns a meeting room into a flexible, cloud-managed collaboration space rather than one tied to a single video platform. It combines several capabilities: Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) meetings, native apps running on the device (Neat Open Apps), AI-generated meeting notes, wireless screen sharing, and Neat Share. Devices are enrolled and managed centrally through Neat Pulse.

This article explains what Neat Open is, the capabilities it includes, and which devices support it. For step-by-step setup and configuration of each capability, follow the links throughout this overview.

Important note on availability: Neat Open became generally available on September 30, 2026 and is rolling out across Neat Pulse accounts in phases. Neat devices must be running NeatOS 26.5 or later. Neat Open is included with every Neat device through Neat Pulse and needs no paid subscription.

Prerequisites and Supported Devices

To use Neat Open, you need:

  • A supported Neat device (see below) running NeatOS 26.5 or later.
  • The device enrolled in Neat Pulse for configuration and management.
  • Network access that meets Neat’s standard firewall and network requirements, plus any app-specific requirements. See Network and firewall requirements.
  • For BYOD, a supported USB connection to the Neat device. See USB connectivity

1. BYOD meetings

Important Note: BYOD-only mode is now part of Neat Open rather than a separate mode. Devices already registered in Neat Pulse in BYOD-only mode will move to Neat Open automatically as of 30th September 2026, and your BYOD meetings will continue to run exactly as before. These devices now gain access to the full Neat Open capability set, enabling browser-based room control (from laptop or phone), AI Notes, local wireless sharing, and Neat Open Apps to extend each room’s use.

BYOD lets a user run a meeting from their own laptop while using the Neat device’s audio and video hardware. Any user in the room can pair at go.neat.no from any browser on any network, enter the code shown on the display, and control camera framing, microphone mute, and speaker volume directly from the browser, with no Neat Pad required. Room control extends to any paired participant, alongside that of the person connected by cable.

For setup and usage: Neat Open: BYOD.

2. Neat Open Apps

Neat Open Apps are native applications that run directly on the Neat device in a shared space, extending it beyond video calls (for example, room scheduling, digital signage, and workspace tools). Both partner apps and custom apps are supported. For the current list of available apps, see Neat Open Apps.

3. AI meeting notes

AI Notes automatically capture the discussions, decisions, and next steps from a session, across local (in-room), BYOD, and Neat Open Apps-based sessions. It produces a structured summary that users can review, expand, query in an “Ask” panel, and share by link. AI Notes is disabled by default and is enabled per device or tenant-wide in Neat Pulse. It is currently a Beta feature.

4. Wireless screen sharing

During a local (in-room) session with no video call running, users can share their screen wirelessly to the Neat device from a paired laptop browser. Several people can share at once: the device tiles each screen and labels it with the presenter’s name, and participants who are not sharing see the room display in their own browser. Sharing is from a laptop only (mobile browsers cannot share) and does not include audio.

For more detail, see Neat Open: Wireless sharing

5. Neat Share

Neat Share lets content from an app running on one Neat device be shared into a Zoom or Microsoft Teams meeting running on another Neat device in the same space. Please not that Neat Share requires a paid Neat Pulse plan.

Experiences and management in Neat Pulse

All Neat Open configuration is handled through Neat Pulse. Browser-based device control, local wireless sharing, and AI Notes are grouped in device settings and Neat Pulse under neat Open >  Experiences. Experiences can be enabled or disabled per device or for a whole tenant, so an organisation can run Neat Open devices with or without any of these capabilities.

Important Note: For existing Neat devices that update to Neat Open from a Neat App Hub setup start with Experiences disabled by default. To use browser control, local sharing, or AI Notes on these devices, have your administrator turn them on in Neat Pulse under Neat Open > Experiences.

All Neat Open configuration is handled through Neat Pulse: enrolling devices, enabling or disabling capabilities and apps (per device or across a group), and monitoring usage.
