Neat Open: Wireless sharing
Last updated September 30, 2026
Overview
Wireless sharing lets several people in the room share and view content at the same time during a local, in-room session, with no video call running. Each person chooses what to focus on in their own browser and controls precisely what appears on the Neat device display. This keeps a room useful even when no call is taking place.
For a wider overview of Neat Open, see Neat Open: Overview.
Prerequisites
The following conditions must be met to successfully use wireless sharing:
- A Neat device configured for Neat Open and running NeatOS 26.5 or later.
- A laptop with a modern web browser, paired to the Neat device. See Neat Open: Browser Pairing and Device Control.
Important Note: Mobile devices cannot share their screen. Mobile browsers do not support screen sharing, so you must share from a laptop’s browser.
Instructions
1. Pair your laptop to the Neat device
Pair your laptop browser to the Neat device. See Neat Open: Browser Pairing and Device Control.
2. Start sharing
Select the content sharing option on the left-hand side of your browser’s controls to start sharing your screen (Figure 1).
3. Choose what appears on the display
Choose what appears on the room display from your browser.
4. Share alongside others
Several people can pair to the same device at once, and more than one person can share at the same time. When multiple participants share, the Neat device automatically tiles their screens side by side, and each tile is labelled with the presenter’s name so it is clear whose content is whose. A badge in the top corner of the display shows how many participants are currently paired.
When a paired participant is not sharing, their browser displays the content shown on the Neat front-of-room device, so everyone in the session can follow along on their own laptop as well as on the room screen.
Specifications and limitations
| Specification | Detail |
|---|---|
| Session type | Local, in-room sessions with no video call running |
| Resolution | 2560 × 1440 at 10 fps |
| Maximum bitrate | 4 Mbps |
The following limitations apply:
- Available only in local, in-room sessions. Wireless sharing is not available in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or BYOD modes.
- Sharing must be done from a laptop. Mobile browsers cannot share their screen.
- Audio is not shared. Only on-screen content appears on the display.
Final Notes
Wireless sharing lets people in the room share content directly from their laptop browsers, keeping a Neat Open room useful between calls. It works in local, in-room sessions only, from a laptop browser, and shares on-screen content without audio.
If the sharing option is not available, confirm you are in a local, in-room session and not in a Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or BYOD mode, and that your laptop’s browser is paired to the Neat device. See the Specifications and limitations above for what wireless sharing does and does not support.
